Dr. Juma A. Mfinanga
Juma is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and Head of Emergency Medicine Department at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. An Honorary Lecturer within the department, at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) and Honorary Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Carolinas Health Care System. Juma also serves as General Secretary of the Emergency Medicine Association of Tanzania (EMAT), the National Professional Association charged with disseminating emergency care in Tanzania, and a member AFEM and ACEP.
Juma completed post-graduate training in 2013 at MUHAS and attended several courses in Emergency Care across the world and has been involved in the development of various emergency care guidelines and protocols. With a significant research interest in emergency care systems development, emergency medical services (EMS), disease outbreak, disaster and trauma and has several publications in international and local journals.
Juma has been involved in coordinating several disasters and emergencies in the country as the Team Leader. Working with the Ministry of Health in Tanzania to promote emergency care systems development, with a vision of the establishment of an Emergency Medicine Department in all Referral, Regional and District Hospital and development of the Tanzanian National EMS.
In the Multilink project he serves as Co- PI and Senior Administrative support.
